NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester athletic director Eric Screeton announced Thursday morning in the signing of Alyx Brandewie as its choice for new head football coach.

Brandewie is originally from Minster, Ohio, but is no stranger to Manchester High School as he spent the 2016-18 seasons as a program assistant to coach Greg Miller. In 2019, Brandewie returned to his hometown to assist with the Minster program, which captured a conference championship.

The Manchester school board approved the hiring after a lengthy process hindered by the cancellation of school for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

“Coach Brandewie is first and foremost a dynamic personality and young people magnet,” stated Screeton. “There is already a strong, positive relationship with the upperclassmen on the team that will spread throughout the program. In the last 20 years of athletic programs I have witnessed, Alyx is one of the best teachers you can be around, whether that is in the classroom or out on the field. He is caring, organized, motivating, enthusiastic, and has a vision of togetherness that directly relates to our Squires athletics culture. We are thrilled to have coach Brandewie come back to Squire football, as he takes the next step in his coaching career.”
